International Student Advisors (ISAs)

ISAs provide confidential advising, including immigration and cultural advice, guidance, and information to assist in your transition to studying at Queen’s and living in Kingston. We specialize in supporting international students, new Canadians, permanent residents, and their families. We can assist with the following, and more: 

  • Learning to navigate the local and academic cultures of Kingston and Queen’s
  • Feelings of homesickness, loneliness, and isolation
  • Understanding and accessing health services

ISAs are Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIA) that can provide you with information on immigration regulations as they relate to your studies in Canada, including: 

  • Study permits 
  • Eligibility to work on or off campus 
  • Visitor visas
  • Spousal work permits 
  • Pathways to permanent residency

Moving to a new country to live and study can be a very exciting journey! As you prepare to take part in the rich and diverse experiences that Canada has to offer, it is important that you are aware of the human rights, freedoms and protections that apply to you under Canadian law. Join QUIC, The Human Rights & Equity Office and The Yellow House and learn more about your rights and the various resources available to you. Please note: This session will feature human rights content including but not limited to information about race, racism, sexual orientation, sexual violence, xenophobia, and ableism. The session will not be recorded.

  • Share your culture(s) and experience with your peers.

To receive a certificate participants must attend all five 120-minute workshops in this specific series.
