Get to Know QUIC

The Queen’s University International Centre (QUIC) is a support service for all members of the Queen’s community that promotes an internationally informed and cross-culturally sensitive learning environment. QUIC provides transition services that lead to a successful student experience.

QUIC programs and services support:

  • The wellbeing, academic success, and personal development of international members of the Queen’s community and their families
  • The academic and personal development of Queen’s students, staff, and faculty interested in education abroad
  • The internationalization of the campus by working with university departments, offices, groups, and individuals to enhance and diversify the international learning environment at Queen’s, through educational and training activities

Along with Student Affairs and campus partners, QUIC is committed to fostering greater Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in campus communities.

Meet our Team

Director

Sultan Almajil (he/him) MA, RISIA (S702145)

Sultan Almajil is the Director of the Queen's University International Centre. With a Master’s in Leadership and over 20 years of experience in higher education, Sultan is dedicated to enhancing the experiences of international students. He oversees a dynamic team that provides comprehensive support services, including international student advising, career support, and cultural programs.

International Student Advisor

Amanda Gray (she/her), RCIC (R712794)

Amanda Gray is a student services professional specializing in international student services. She works to build interactive and engaging programming that meets the needs of students in collaboration with them. Amanda values student input and feedback and encourages students to reach out and share their productive solutions and ideas with her.

International Student Advisor

Arthur Chen (he/him), RISIA (S701177)

Arthur Chen works on programming for international students, including orientation, as a licensed International Student Immigration Advisor. He brings extensive advising experience to support international students at Queen’s, helping them navigate their academic and immigration journeys.

Intercultural Academic Support Coordinator

Lydia Skulstad (she/her), MA

Lydia Skulstad partners with Student Academic Success Services (SASS) to support international and multilingual students in their academic transition and skill development. Students can connect with her for individualized SASS appointments, attend writing or speaking workshops, or discuss learning expectations at Queen’s. With a background in psychology and applied linguistics (TESOL), Lydia has facilitated learning and teacher training workshops in both university and community settings in Korea and the United States. Outside of work, she enjoys learning new things, embracing challenges, and finding value in the lessons learned from failure.

Career Coach

Daria Patrusheva (she/her), MA

Daria Patrusheva partners with Career Services to assist international students and new graduates with career exploration and job search. She delivers career education workshops, provides individual career coaching, and promotes experiential learning opportunities.

International Training Coordinator

Lee Richard (he/him), MA-IIC

Lee coordinates the intercultural training that is offered to Queen’s University students through the Intercultural Awareness Certificate series and other programs.

Office Coordinator

Sumia Bushra (she/her), BSc

Sumia is the office coordinator of the QUIC, oversees daily operation and maintenance of the QUIC space. Her role involved recruitment, supervision and execute the pay roll for the front office student team. The front office directs students and visitors to services offered within the center and other locations at the university. She is QUIC staff’s timekeeper and works as an IT rep. She manages the departmental purchasing and maintains the QUIC inventory. Additionally, she coordinates space booking requests for events including QUIC, other department or student’s clubs. She also provides administrative support for the QUIC director and other QUIC staff. 

Coordinator, Programs and Communications

Hanna Bathurst (she/her), MEd 

Hanna Bathurst loves working with university students in peer-led programs, creating opportunities for them to grow, learn, and connect, particularly through the World Link Program and the English Conversation Program. She also manages QUIC media and communications, exploring creative outlets and fostering community connections. With a background in education and language acquisition from her time abroad, and a Master’s degree from Queen’s, Hanna’s professional interests lie in intercultural communication and women immigrant stories.
