This professionally facilitated group is for international students making the transition to living in Canada. It will be facilitated by therapists with lived experience of being international students. This group aims to help those who may be missing home and the support of loved ones, and who want to find community and a sense of belonging at Queen’s.We hope to provide a safe place to share experiences, support each other, and find ways to navigate transition issues that may arise, and the pressures to achieve academic success due to personal, family and cultural expectations. We recognize that international students are a very diverse group who hold different views and values both personal and political. However, the purpose of the group is to help you build connections and community, and to find support. Both incoming and returning international students are welcome to join! In this group, you will have a space to:
- Share your concerns and receive support from others
- Share solutions, resources, and ways to better manage the transition and pressures
- Experience the benefits of community when you are far from home
THIS GROUP IS ONLY OPEN TO STUDENTS CURRENTLY LIVING IN ONTARIO.
Thursdays 12:00-1:30pm from January 26th to March 2nd
