Aga Khan Foundation Canada Fellowships
The Aga Khan Fellowship program is designed to provide intensive development management training in Canada and field experience in Asia to outstanding young Canadians who are committed to pursuing a career in international development. Up to 25 fellowships will be awarded per year. The program normally consists of a four-week, case study-based management seminar in Ottawa, followed by an eight-month work placement with a non-governmental organization in Asia or Africa. Participants will be placed with organizations working in various aspects of development, such as health, education, rural development, microfinance microenterprise development. Association of Rhodes Scholars in Australia Scholarship
The Association of Rhodes Scholars in Australia (ARSA) has established a Scholarship Fund for the purpose of bringing an overseas Commonwealth student to Australia to consult with leading scholars in their research area and undertake research in Australia relevant to their thesis project. The Scholarship will enable the successful applicant to spend a period of between six and twelve months as a visiting postgraduate scholar at an Australian university to undertake research towards the fulfilment of the requirements of the research higher degree for which he or she is currently enrolled. The Scholarship will provide a grant-in-aid to a maximum of $20,000, inclusive of the contribution to the Scholarship holder's travelling expenses to and from Australia. The successful Scholarship holder will normally be in receipt of a stipend from their home university for pursuit of their studies.
Australia Endeavour Executive Awards The Endeavour Executive Award provides up to AUS$18,500 for international applicants in business, industry, education or government to undertake 1-4 months of professional development in Australia. The Awards focus on building skills and knowledge through a host work environment rather than through formal enrolment in a study program at a host organisation and are not intended to fund direct academic research (if your activity will result in you receiving, or contributes to, a formal academic qualification, you will not be eligible to apply for an Executive Award).
Azrieli Fellows Program The Azrieli Fellows Program promotes excellence in research and graduate studies at accredited institutions of higher learning in Israel. This prestigious and competitive program provides financial support to the best and brightest scholars from Israel and around the world. In the 2012/2013 academic year, the program will also welcome postdoctoral scholars who wish to undertake postdoctoral research at various universities in Israel (applications are due in early November 2011).
British Chevening Scholarships These scholarships, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and administered by the British Council, are prestigious awards which enable overseas students to study in the United Kingdom. Scholarships are offered in over 150 countries and enable talented graduates and young professionals to become familiar with the UK and gain skills which will benefit their countries. Areas of Study: Political Science, Law and International Relations, Media, Economics, Environment, Human Rights and Development, Film, Design and the Creative Industries.
Intended for student and reseach exchanges at the undergraduate and graduate level. Only Chilean can apply for this scholarship and Canadian institutions must submit applications on behalf of the candidate. Deadline April 23, 2012.
Canadian Japanese-Mennonite Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to a graduate student who is a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant studying at a university in Canada who is engaged in research that will assist the protection of minority or human rights in Canada.
Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation International Scholarly Exchange
The Foundation's principal work is to award grants to institutions and individuals conducting China-related research and academic projects. An annual budget of approximately four million US dollars is distributed under such grant categories as institutional enhancement, research, conference and seminar grants, subsidies for publication, and senior scholar grants. There are also fellowships available for graduate students, and post-doctoral researchers.
CIDA Awards Program for Canadians
The program funds projects initiated by Canadian citizens who wish to participate in volunteer international development work and, through the experience, gain valuable knowledge and skills. The development activity may be the fieldwork component of a masters degree program (PhD research is not funded), or a professional work/research project. The international development project is to be carried out in a country eligible under Canada's Official Development Assistance framework (ODA) and must address a specific field of endeavor within the framework of CIDA's Aid Policy.
Scholarship awarded for the best running thesis of a PhD student participating in the France-Canada joint PhD (cotutelle) program. The FCRF scholarship for thesis cotutelles finances academic study visits in France (one round-trip airfare and monthly allowence). Applications open until March 15, 2012.
Awarded for the best thesis completed by a PhC student participating in the France-Canada joint PhD (cotutelle) program after a successful defence. The prize is valued at $1,500 and applications must be sent in by March 15, 2012.

Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Program A number of awards are offered to Canadian scholars and graduate students studying any approved areas of subjects in a Chinese university. Preference is given to those candidates whose researach is related to the study of China. Applicants should have a certain level of Chinese language proficiency.
Commonwealth Scholarship Plan Awards are available to Canadians for graduate study in other Commonweath countries. The Commonwealth Scholarship Plan is administered in Canada by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) on behalf of Foreign Affairs Canada. Scholarships are offered by many various countries. Deadline is April 23, 2012
Canada-CARICOM Leadership Scholarship ProgramCanada-CARICOM Leadership Scholarships provide students short-term exchange opportunities for study or research at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels. The deadline to apply is April 23 2012, with Canadian institutions submitting applications on behalf of the candidate.
Emerging Leaders in the Americas ProgramELAP provides students short-term exchange opportunities for study or research at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels. The scholarship value can be up to $10, 000 CAN for graduate students with the application deadline on Apri 23 2012.
Scholarships of the Embassy of FranceThe competition is open to all disciplines. Scholarships will be awarded to appicants who reside outside of Quebec. The award includes airfare, a monthly allowance, health insurance, tuition fees and assitance with registration and finding accomodation.
Foreign Government Awards Program The Foreign Government Awards are normally intended to assist Canadian students in furthering their studies or conducting research abroad at a master's, doctoral or post-doctoral level, and normally cover a period of at least six months. Most countries offer a wide selection of disciplines to which awards may be applied, but not all countries offer awards for all disciplines. The Government of Russia Federation offers scholarships for language learning, culture and career advancement. Applications are due April 23 2012. Scholarships are also available from the Government of Korea for study/research at the gradute level. Applications for Russia are due March 15th 2012 and for Korea March 7th 2012.
Organization of American States (OAS) Fellowships Programs Applications are now being accepted from Canadian students wishing to apply for postdoctoral and short-term research training scholarships in Argentina, until March 30th 2012. The OAS Fellowship Program awards academic scholarships to undertake graduate studies and/or graduate research at a university or higher learning institution in a Member State. Studies may be carried out by on-site or by distance education or a combination of both.
International Development Research Centre (IDRC)
The IDRC is a Canadian public corporation that works in close collaboration with researchers from the developing world in their search for the means to build healthier, more equitable, and more prosperous societies. IDRC offers research funding and numerous fellowships, awards and special programs for master's level and doctoral level students.
Fulbright Grants for Educational and Cultural Exchange The Fulbright Program supports educational exchanges that strengthen understanding and communication between the United States and over 140 countries. Fulbright Scholarships and grants are for graduate and prospective graduate students, junior and tenured faculty members, professionals and independent researchers having already obtained an undergraduate degree.
Global Youth Fellowships
The Walter and Duncan Gordon Foundation fellowship programme will be targeted towards young and emerging leaders in Canada who have demonstrated a commitment to international issues. The fellowship will provide financial as well as other forms of support that will enable recipients to deepen their understanding of global policy issues. The award is not intended to be a scholarship, and , as a result, cannot be used for a return to full-time studies.
These are two different scholarship opportunities for graduate students. The Open Scholarship is for a graduate from any Canadian university who engages in postgraduate study of any field (in Canada or internationally). One scholarship is awarded annually with a value of $10,000. The other scholarship -Travelling Scholarship, is awarded to 4 students who engage in postgraduate studies in the United States or UK. Their field of study must be in international or industrial relations and the potential value is up to $11,000.
Tony Blair Faith Foundation This foundation offers a program called the Faith Acts Fellowship which is a global movement of people of different faiths in over 75 countries, taking action together against preventable disease and extreme poverty. Faiths Act Fellows in the UK, US, Canada and India are leading the campaign. This program is a year-long, paid international Fellowship that brings together exceptional future leaders inspired by faith to serve as interfaith ambassadors for the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Trudeau Foundation
The annual Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarships competition in the social sciences and humanities is open to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants pursuing full-time doctoral studies in Canada, and exceptionally to Canadians pursuing full-time doctoral studies at foreign institutions. Foreign nationals pursuing doctoral studies at Canadian institutions will also be supported, with a preference for candidates from the developing world.
